Dr Kaihan Yao is a Victorian-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in foot and ankle surgery, as well as lower limb reconstruction surgery.
Dr Yao graduated from Monash University with Honours in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. He then furthered his postgraduate education, achieving a Diploma in Surgical Anatomy and a Certificate in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne and the University of Newcastle, respectively. Dr Yao completed his orthopaedic training across multiple metro and regional Victorian Hospitals. In 2023, he was awarded fellowship to both the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Dr Yao is passionate about medical education and supporting the training of the next generation of doctors. He has published multiple articles in international medical journals and was also invited to co-author a book chapter on Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome (a nerve entrapment syndrome involving the foot and ankle).
Dr Yao is currently participating in a subspecialty fellowship in Sydney, Australia, to advance his training and knowledge on total ankle replacements, minimally invasive foot surgery, and lower limb deformity correction.
Dr Yao is available for appointments in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, total permanent disability and medical negligence claims. Dr Yao is available for complex case discussion, file review and telemedicine assessments.
