A/Prof Anoop Sankaranarayanan is a general adult psychiatrist with extensive clinical and senior managerial experience working within Australia, Qatar, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India. His areas of interest and expertise are schizophrenia, treatment resistant depression, self-harm and suicide behaviours, dementia, bipolar disorders, and anxiety disorders. A/Prof Sankaranarayanan is currently consultant psychiatrist at the Melaleuca Unit of Blacktown Health Service, and he consults privately with Sydney.
A/Prof Sankaranarayanan completed his medical training in Coimbatore and Post-graduate training in Psychiatry from Vellore, India. He then completed his fellowship training in 2005, being awarded fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Most recently A/Prof Sankaranarayanan has embarked on his Master of Health Management, completing this in 2017.
A/Prof Sankaranarayanan has a strong history of giving back to the next generation through education. He has been actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching since 2004. He is also an avid researcher, having published in peer reviewed journals and presented at numerous forums.
A/Prof Sankaranarayanan has AMA 5 impairment accreditation and is available for bookings either face-to-face or via telehealth. He is available to conduct assessments in relation to workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, total permanent disability, file review and medical negligence claims.
