Dr Adam Watson is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in shoulder, hip and knee surgery. Dr Watson graduated from the University of Tasmania with first class honours. He worked for several years in Hobart and Launceston prior to completing orthopaedic fellowship training in metropolitan and regional Victoria, including attending Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon, USA.
Dr Watson’s private practice is located in North Hobart and he operates privately at Calvary Hospital, Lenah Valley and Calvary, St John’s Hospital. Dr Watson also maintains a public appointment at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Dr Watson expanded his training and education in both Australia and Canada, developing an in-depth knowledge of the shoulder, hip and knee. Whilst in Canada, Dr Watson completed the prestigious University of Toronto Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Sports and Arthroscopy Fellowship, where he focused on complex shoulder and knee injuries. He also undertook The University of Calgary Orthopaedic Joint Reconstruction Fellowship. Dr Watson has an active role in research with a number of published papers, and in 2015 was awarded the AOA ASEAN Travelling Fellowship.
The role of future surgeons and enhancing their training holds significant importance for Dr Watson. Completing his Master's of Surgical Education, Dr Watson also holds a clinical lecturing position at the University of Tasmania.
During his downtime, Dr Watson likes to be outdoors with his family, either mountain biking, trail running or cycling through the wilderness.
Dr Watson can undertake assessments in relation to workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, Comcare assessment, total permanent disability and medical negligence claims.
