Dr Simon Grof is a consultant geriatrician with experience in both Aged Medicine and Ambulatory Care. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine as well as the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Dr Grof was appointed as the inaugural Chief Medical Officer at Jewish Care Victoria in 2022. He also holds multiple positions at Eastern Health as a Consultant Geriatrician, and is their Clinical Director of Coordinated Care.
Dr Grof graduated from Monash University, completing his medical degree in 2005, and in 2013 received his Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. He is also an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators and a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership.
Dr Simon Grof has held the position of Honorary Lecturer at the Deakin University School of Medicine. He currently acts as a Basic Training Supervisor for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Advanced Training Supervisor in the Geriatric Medicine Training Program.
Over the course of his career, Dr Grof has pursued various leadership and management development opportunities. In 2017, he undertook the Williamson Community Leadership Program, followed by participation in the Eastern Health Leadership Series for senior managers. Dr Grof has also participated in the Leadership for Clinicians program run by the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators in 2021. The previous year, he participated in the Leadership and Innovation in Health program by Monash University & Harvard Macy Institute. Most recently, in 2023 he has taken part in the Eastern Health Clinical Governance Course.
Dr Grof has a recent published article in the Australian Health Law Bulletin, titled ‘Chemical restraint in residential aged care, clinical governance, and general practitioner engagement’.
