Dr Michael Giummarra is a qualified Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician, specialising in all areas of musculoskeletal injury and pain management. His areas of interest are sports & exercise medicine, musculoskeletal injury, post-operative rehabilitation, pain management and return to sport after injury.
Dr Giummarra completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at The University of Melbourne in 2008 followed by his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Deakin University in 2012. He completed his internship and residency at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and gained recognition as a specialist with the Australasian College of Sports and Exercise Physicians in 2022.
Dr Michael Giummarra holds multiple orthopaedic surgical assistant positions across private hospitals in Victoria and New South Wales. He has also served as the Chief Medical Officer of many sports teams across multiple sporting codes.
Whilst heavily involved with athletes, Dr Giummarra also provides sports and exercise healthcare to non-athletes. Additionally, he has a strong focus on promoting non-operative and self-directed management.
Dr Michael Giummarra is available for appointments in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents and public liability matters. He is available for complex case discussion and file reviews.
