Dr Luke De La Rue has extensive experience in trauma management and critical care in both a tertiary trauma centre and pre-hospital and retrieval environment. He is particularly interested in Clinical Toxicology and the treatment and management of the acutely poisoned patient, having completed numerous peer-reviewed publications in this area.
Dr Luke De La Rue undertook a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at Monash University in 2009, then began his journey into emergency medicine and training. Dr De La Rue completed his fellowship training and advanced training in Emergency Medicine at The Australasian College of Emergency Medicine.
Dr De La Rue is currently an Emergency Physician at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, providing critical treatment for trauma patients. He also holds an appointment as a Pre-hospital & Retrieval Medicine Physician for Lifeflight in Queensland.
Dr De La Rue worked with the Victorian Infectious Disease Services in the Results Notification Team, coordinating ongoing medical care needs in the outpatient setting during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was a Melbourne Health Peer Support Program Representative, a service which supports staff wellbeing, health and safety, throughout the pandemic.
Dr Luke De La Rue is available for appointments in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, total permanent disability and medical negligence claims. Dr De La Rue is available for complex case discussion, file review and telemedicine assessments.
