Dr Gillian Adsett is an internationally-trained general paediatrician with expertise in acute and complex medical and neurodevelopmental behavioural paediatrics. Dr Adsett has special interests in paediatric allergy and immunology and paediatric critical care medicine.
Dr Adsett grew up primarily in Toowoomba, then made the move to Brisbane and started her medical studies at the University of Queensland. Here, Dr Adsett graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 2001. Continuing her medical studies, Dr Adsett completed her paediatric training across multiple Queensland institutions, including Mater Children’s Hospital, Mt Isa General Hospital and Nambour General Hospital. She was granted Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in January 2011.
After holding paediatric specialist roles in Edinburgh, Dr Gillian Adsett returned to Australia. Dr Adsett is now a Senior Staff Specialist for Queensland Health, based at The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane.
Dr Gillian Adsett has continually contributed to the learning of peers and future generations throughout her career. Within her consultant position, she holds formal and informal training sessions for paediatric registrars, junior medical staff and medical students. Additional roles include Supervisor and Mentor for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for various training paediatricians and Paediatric Emergency Medicine trainees. Dr Adsett is also a Senior Lecturer for the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Queensland.
Dr Adsett was honoured to be invited to become an instructor for Advanced Paediatric Life Support Australia (APLS), where she currently holds an instructing role.
Dr Adsett is available for consultations in Brisbane and is available for bookings in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters and total permanent disability. She is also available for complex case discussion, telemedicine assessment and file review.
