Dr Ekaterina Alibrahim is a Consultant Radiologist with specialist training in women’s imaging, including breast (contrast mammography, tomosynthesis and MRI), obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound, and fetal, placental, pelvic and body MRI.
Dr Alibrahim has a special interest in MRI imaging of infertility and endometriosis. She is one of a handful of doctors in Australia accredited to perform MRgFUS – (MRI guided high intensity focused ultrasound) ablation of uterine fibroids.
Dr Alibrahim consults within both public and private settings, holding senior medical staff appointments at the Royal Women’s Hospital as well as the Western and Sunshine Hospitals. Dr Alibrahim commenced her medical studies in 1999 at the University of Melbourne, and in 2012 was awarded her fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR). She also completed a breast imaging fellowship at Monash Breast Screen and the ASUM DDU in O&G in 2015.
Dr Alibrahim is the co-founder of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Special Interest Group on behalf of the RANZCR and is a member of the Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound Education and Monitoring Program on behalf of the board and council of the RANZCOG. She set up all MRI protocols for gynaecological and placental studies at Sunshine Hospital, and was instrumental in setting up the fetal MRI service at the Royal Women’s Hospital.
