Dr Richard Pennington qualified from Imperial College School of Medicine in London and his orthopaedic training was on the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas’ Training Program. He has undertaken specialist fellowships in both Melbourne and Sydney, focusing on the treatment of shoulder and elbow conditions, as well as knee and sports injuries.
Based in Melbourne, Dr Pennington consults privately at Epworth Freemasons Hospital, Glenferrie Private Hospital, Epworth Eastern Hospital and Northpark Private Hospital. He also has public appointments at The Northern, Box Hill and Maroondah Hospital. Dr Pennington is also committed to building the skills of others within the medical field through the teaching and supervision roles he additionally maintains.
Dr Pennington is dual accredited in Australia and the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He is also a member of the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society.
Dr Pennington has also travelled extensively visiting surgeons with similar interests to further his skills, including being awarded an AO Trauma Fellowship to the Rocky Mountain Trauma Centre in Denver, USA.
