A/Prof George Chalkiadis is a specialist paediatric and adult anaesthetist and pain medicine physician. He has been head of Children’s Pain Management Services and a consultant anaesthetist at the Royal Children’s Hospital since his appointment in 1997. With a breadth of experience and specialist skills, A/Prof Chalkiadis additionally consults at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, The Avenue Private Hospital and Cabrini Private Hospital. A/Prof Chalkiadis has a special interest in chronic pain and the long-term outcomes of children with persistent pain.
A/Prof George Chalkiadis completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Western Australia. He was awarded fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 1996, then continued his specialist training completing his fellowship of pain medicine in 2001.
A/Prof Chalkiadis’ responsibilities extend beyond his clinical work including his appointment as Research Associate at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, membership of the Medical Panels and his editorial roles for Pain Management Today and Paediatric Anesthesia Journal.
A/Prof Chalkiadis is actively involved in clinical research, with much of his research being published in medical journals. He has published numerous book chapters and regularly contributes to national and international industry conferences and meetings.
A/Prof George Chalkiadis has completed his AMA4 Impairment Assessment Training, awarded with lower limb accreditation. He is available for bookings in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters, total permanent disability and medical negligence claims. A/Prof Chalkiadis is also available for complex case discussion, telemedicine assessment and file review.
