Azure is a boutique medicolegal firm focused on bringing quality and integrity to everything we do. It was founded in 2020 by two experienced orthopaedic surgeons, Dr David Slattery and Dr Jennifer Flynn. While working in the medicolegal space, they noticed a gap in the industry and recognised that independent assessments could be greatly enhanced by medical professionals who are clinically active.
Dr Slattery holds degrees in both medicine and law. He is a lower limb orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in the hip, knee and pelvis. He began his studies in Law at Melbourne University with a focus in medical law and health, before embarking on his medical career. Dr Flynn is an upper limb orthopaedic surgeon specialising in surgery of the shoulder with a postgraduate qualification in Medical Law.
When a medicolegal assessor is clinically engaged and uses the latest technology within their practice, it ensures a thorough and accurate assessment of patients who may be undergoing some form of legal process concerning an injury or medical condition. Azure was created to cater to this need, ensuring most specialists who work with us are clinically active or in a position to provide up-to-date, precise and authoritative medical opinions. At Azure, we also run educational sessions with law firms and other clients, such as webinars or we can come to you, provide lunch for your team over an information session of your choice to provide further insights into the medicolegal process from the perspectives of various specialists. We discuss navigating the AMA and other guidelines and examine common clinical issues that might have significant impacts on patients’ lives.
