Dr Julia Kirby is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in orthopaedic sports medicine and the treatment of sports injuries from childhood through to adulthood.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Adelaide, Dr Kirby went on to complete a Master of Sports Medicine at The University of Queensland, where she received the Dean’s commendation for Academic Excellence. Dr Kirby is completing her orthopaedic fellowship training, gaining valuable orthopaedic trauma experience across multiple Melbourne metropolitan and regional centres.
Dr Julia Kirby currently holds a public appointment at Austin Health in Heidelberg as an orthopaedic trauma surgeon. She is passionate about contributing to the development of junior doctors and other health practitioners through mentoring and medical education opportunities. Dr Kirby has published multiple papers in international medical journals in the area of trauma management. She has served as a Facilitator for the Orthopaedic Women’s Link workshop, inspiring the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons. Dr Kirby is interested in orthopaedic outreach.
Dr Kirby is available for appointments in relation to independent medical examinations, workplace injuries, transport accidents, public liability matters and total and permanent disability. Dr Kirby can also assist with complex case discussion, medical negligence, telemedicine assessment and file review.
