Dr Bennett is a rural-based gastroenterologist and hepatologist working in private practice in the mid-north of South Australia. Her expertise extends across a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including bowel cancer screening, liver disease, oesophageal motility disorders and functional gut disorders, and she has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Dr Bennett completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with First Class Honours at Monash University, and thereafter completed physician training and specialist gastroenterology training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre, respectively. Dr Bennett maintains a private practice at Port Pirie Regional Health Service.
Dr Bennett completed a Masters degree in Philosophy/Medical Science focused on ‘Improving care for patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease’ and partnered with the Rural Medical School at Adelaide University, to provide face-to-face and online tutoring of rural medical students.
Dr Bennett is committed to improving the life of rural patients with gastrointestinal complaints and teaching medical students, and maintains professional development certification. She was awarded the Rural Medical School Teaching Prize at Adelaide University in 2019.
Dr Bennett enjoys long-distance running and mountain bike riding.
Dr Bennett is available for independent assessments and consultation on medical negligence matters as well as complex case discussion, telemedicine assessment and file reviews.
