Dr Rattray is a fully qualified specialist anaesthetist. Dr Rattray graduated from medicine at the University of Newcastle in 2006, prior to completing his specialist anaesthesia training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne in 2014. He obtained his Anaesthetic Fellowship from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2015.
Dr Rattray undertook a year of clinical fellowship at Monash Medical Centre, and The Royal Women’s Hospital in 2014, gaining experience in high-risk obstetric anaesthesia. He has subspecialty interests in obstetric, bariatric, ophthalmic, orthopaedic and regional anaesthesia. Dr Rattray enjoys teaching anaesthetic trainees and helping them to prepare for their fellowship exams. Dr Rattray has been involved in research into goal directed fluid therapy in major colorectal surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery. He has completed further study in clinical ultrasound and echocardiography. Dr Rattray has done volunteer medical work in Mannya, Uganda, and teaches anaesthesia yearly in Mongolia.
Dr Rattray holds public appointments at the Royal Women’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital, and attends many private hospitals, including Epworth, Cabrini, St Vincent’s, The Avenue, Frances Perry and St John of God, Berwick.
Outside of work, Dr Michael Rattray enjoys spending time with his three young children. He is a keen fly fisher and golfer.

Dr Rattray is also available for complex case discussion, file review and telemedicine assessments.
